Public Lecture: Museums and conflicts in the perspective of Polish experience
On October 12th (Thursday) at 17.00 o’clock a public lecture named „Museums and Conflicts in the Perspective of Polish Experience“ will be presented at the National Museum of Military History by assoc. prof. Sonya Penkova PhD – a historian and museologist. At the event the lecturer will present the Polish experience in exposing and presenting the heritage of conflicts, the contemporary methods of work with different type of audiences and also the inclusion of modern technologies and virtual reality in the museums in order to improve the added value to the material traces of the past.
The lecture will reveal the approaches used by the newly opened Museum of Second World War and the European Center „Solidarity“ as well as the processes of formation and realization of governmental policies for the development of museums and cultural funding in Poland – one of the European countries with abundance of newly established or renovated museums after the democratic changes.
