Exhibition “The Bulgarian Army.
Stories for Children”

The exhibition displays for the first time over 60 wooden miniature models of soldiers, weapons, and vehicles that represent the establishment and development of the Bulgarian army. Brought to the museum more than eight decades ago, the artifacts—close to children’s perception—tell the story of what soldiers from the infantry, cavalry, artillery, navy, air force, engineering troops, and military medical units, as well as volunteers, looked like during the different periods of the Bulgarian army’s formation.

“The Bulgarian Army. Stories for Children” not only draws attention with its unconventional approach to the subject, but also encourages young audiences to become active participants. With specially made military uniforms and ladies’ dresses, children can travel back in time and have their picture taken as a souvenir, play with puzzles and touchscreens with fun applications. The atmosphere is complemented by 80 watercolor paintings by artist Lazar Yordanov, depicting various military uniforms throughout the years.
