Summer cinema, augmented reality and a concert on the Night of Museums at the National Museum of Military History
On May 14 (Saturday) from 06.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. the National Museum of Military History (NVIM) joins the European initiative “Night of Museums”. Admission is free, and the prepared program will encourage the active participation of visitors in museum life.
In addition to the opportunity to view the external and permanent chronological exhibition, visitors to the Museum will rediscover some of the relics in a new way, through augmented reality. They will see how paintings come to life, they will watch how the golden nails are driven into the handles of the new battle flags handed over in 1937, they will look at the standard of the 1st Sofia Cavalry Regiment from all sides, they will see how they would look like with a gas mask or helmet from the World War I. The NVIM team will also challenge its guests to become part of the curatorial team of the future exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Balkan War, identifying the most interesting topics to be included in it.
The representative brass band of the National Guard Unit will take care of the good mood of all “overnight stays” in the Museum. The feature film “Enemies” with screenwriter and director Svetoslav Ovcharov and with the participation of actors Asen Blatechki, Ivan Burnev, Valentin Ganev, Hristo Ushev, Stefan Mavrodiev and others will be screened in the summer cinema under the stars.
The Night of Museums also includes the branches of the National Museum of Military History – Vladislav Varnenchik Park-Museum and the Naval Museum in Varna and the Aviation Museum in Krumovo.
