An exhibition of the museum of the Second World War in Gdansk hosted at the National Museum of Military History

On August 29, Thursday, at 6:00 pm, at the National Museum of Military History (92, Cherkovna Street, Sofia) opens the documentary exhibition “Struggle and Suffering. Polish Citizens during WWII”. The project is developed by the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, Poland.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the world conflict, which started with German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939, at Westerplatte, where a memorial – part of the Museum of the Second World War, is erected. Through documents and photographs, the exhibition traces the experience of the Poles, caught in the grip of two colossal military powers – Germany and the USSR, and presents evidence of the struggle against the totalitarian regimes, the contribution of soldiers and civilians to the defense of the independence and to the victory of the Allied forces.

The project “Struggle and Suffering. Polish Citizens During WWII“, is result of collaboration between the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, the Polish Institute in Sofia and the National Museum of Military History. It is part of the National Museum of Military History’s calendar of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the conflict. The exhibition can be seen until September 20.
