Created for the 106 anniversary of the Museum, the exhibition presents an unknown and very exciting part of its million-items-rich-collection – the precious jewellery pieces, for most of which this is the first public viewing.
Among the fascinating items on display are lapel pins, cufflinks and collar studs, watches, rings, snuffboxes, medals, and Fabergé eggs. Exquisitely crafted from precious metals and gemstones – platinum, gold, silver, diamonds, rubies, and sapphires, they bear the mark of universal values and timeless elegance.
The exhibition showcases jewellery masterpieces from more than 25 of the most prominent late 19th and early 20th c. European ateliers: Ludwig Wrana and Ernst Paltscho (Austria-Hungary), Peter Rath and Willy Ganssen Coburg (Germany), Bvlgari and Settepassi (Italy), Faberge and Bolin (Russia), Cartier and Hermes (France), etc. The exhibition also features jewellery watches by famous Swiss, German, and French brands. Remarkably, some of these jewellery companies had also produced Bulgarian decorations. Part of the exhibition are also the stars of the highest award of the Principality of Bulgaria, “St. Alexander,” made by C.F. Rothe and G.A. Sheid (Austria) and Kretly (France).
Partners in the realization of this exhibition are The National Music Theatre and the Bulgarian National Film Archive.
